The Lake District contains England's highest mountains and its largest
and most beautiful lakes. Ambleside lies at the heart of the Lake District
National Park and is beautifully situated in the Rothay Valley, one mile
north of the head of Lake Windermere.

The town nestles within the fells of Loughrigg, Fairfield and Wansfell
and its central location makes it the ideal spot from which to tour
the Lake District, the home of William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.

Ambleside's location has made the town a major centre for rock climbing,
